Have I Found the Love of My Life? – Tarot Spread

He’s attractive. She’s intriguing. They are interesting. But could this new person be the love of your life? Try this tarot spread to find out some answers. I can’t guarantee it will give you a definitive result but you might find out some helpful information.

Grab your cards and give them a good shuffle. Keep your love interest in mind as you do so. Attempt to establish a connection to them. I like to close my eyes and recall some concrete facts, such as their date of birth, location, job, etc. I also immerse myself in the positive feelings they inspire within me. In other words, I get into their space.

My client is fictional. Let’s call her Truly.

Truly has met someone online, but has not yet met them IRL. They’ve been chatting for two months. It started slowly but now they talk every day. As each day passes, Truly has felt strongly that they have a connection. She is hesitant though because she has been hurt in the past. She’d like to have a little more information to help her navigate the near future and to decide if she wants to meet him, (let’s call him Seb) in person.

I’m using the wonderful Light Seer’s deck. If you haven’t got it, you need it. You can order it right here (I will receive a small commission if you use the link): Light Seer’s Tarot on Amazon.com. Please beware of the fake copies that proliferate on Amazon lately.

I’m going to lay out five cards in a clockwise circle, starting at 12 o’clock. These are the position meanings:

  1. Tell me how we are compatible?
  2. What do they like about me?
  3. How do we complement each other?
  4. What should I be aware of?
  5. What is the potential for the relationship?

My interpretations will be short and to the point, but you must feel free to explore each card in depth. It will help you to keep a record and perhaps journal about the reading over the next day or two.

Incidentally, I never choose the cards to fit my purpose when doing these example readings. I make them as authentic as possible by holding my fictional client in my awareness and drawing the cards randomly.

Shuffles, lays out the cards.

Oh, dear. Poor Truly.

1. How are they compatible? – Five of Pentacles

2. What does Seb like about Truly? – Seven of Pentacles

3. How do they complement each other? – Seven of Wands

4. What should Truly be aware of? – The Fool

5. What is the potential for their relationship? Five of Wands

The Five of Pentacles shows that there are practical problems that may not be conducive to a harmonious relationship. Fives are always challenges, and Pentacles represent day-to-day, mundane concerns. So there may be job or family differences that prevent the relationship from running smoothly. It may also pertain to the difficulties of online vs real life.

The Seven of Pentacles indicates a low-level dissatisfaction, yet it can also mean someone trying to improve their circumstances. Seb admires her determination to better herself, to nurture her career. That ambition is linked back to the previous card so it’s possible he may feel pushed aside at times.

The Seven of Wands tells us that one of the pair feels compelled to resist or to have to stand up for themselves. It’s not a card of harmony between two people. In fact, it can mean they are competing for attention in some way.

The Fool means that Truly should be aware that taking this relationship further is a risk. Possibly a foolish one. She could get her heart broken, or, conversely, have to extricate herself from the relationship. It’s also likely she feels as though she should take the leap into the unknown and to hell with the consequences.

The potential for the relationship is the Five of Wands. Another card of challenges, disharmony, miscommunication, and competitiveness. It doesn’t bode well for romantic alignment.

Conclusion: This won’t go terribly well for Truly and Seb. She may need to meet Seb in person to confirm or deny the information given in the reading. So to answer the question posed, no, Truly hasn’t found the love of her life.

Let me know if you try this spread and if you got a better outcome than poor made-up Truly
