Oracles – dragons and demons

I don’t do oracle decks… I dunno, they always seem a bit whimsical to me. That’s not to say whimsical is bad, it’s just that tarot in its traditional form has such an elegant and logical structure. It flows and it makes sense when used as a mirror to human triumphs and tribulations. Oracle decks are a bit, well, random.

Anyway, I have a copy of the Druid Animal Oracle that I inherited years ago from a lovely lady who practically gave me her whole occult library, including several decks. I have probably only looked at this one once before. It is, admittedly, very attractive. Let’s see if it has any information and advice to impart on this lovely, sunny morning.

I’ve shuffled and drawn the Air Dragon. Beautiful.

Druid Animal Oracle

Referring to the book, it appears that this card has similar qualities to the Ace of Swords… and it is flying over Snowdonia, which is nice because we camped there once.

The book gives us two pages of information about dragons, very interesting, as it refers to places I know, however, it only devotes six and a half lines — three sentences — to what the card means in a reading, essentially a flash of insight and clarity. Surely there must be more to say than that?

I shall look forward to several lightning-strikes of illumination today – I certainly need something to cut through my current cold-induced woolly-headedness!

You can still purchase the Druid Animal Oracle, don’t be put off by my comments above. You may have the inclination to immerse yourself in this deck and you could do worse. It is very beautiful and worth having in your collection. I’m glad I have mine… and maybe that’s the first insight of the day?

Edit: And here’s another. I forgot to mention that I have added another article to the collection here… a short dissertation on the Wheel of Fortune. Fascinating card, yes?
