Set yourself a tarot study schedule

I’ve seen those books and websites that claim to teach tarot in a day. Sorry, it’s not possible. Understanding tarot comes after a lifetime of studying it, using it and living it — and full understanding may not even come then. It’s a slippery thing; it changes all the time with our own perspective. That’s why it is so fascinating – it is the study of human existence.

However, I do understand you want to know more about it, to use it for good, to enhance your life and that of others. The only way to do that is just to start. Make 2015 the beginning of your in-depth tarot study. Get yourself organised and set a schedule. It doesn’t have to be anything grand. Maybe a card-a-day or even one a week. Get to know all you can about that card until it becomes part of who you are. Then do another. Rinse and repeat until your deck is imprinted on your soul. Of course that is only the beginning. As you live through your experiences, your knowledge of tarot will undergo many twists and turns.

For example, let’s take that pesky Seven of Swords – the thief. Once upon a time, I lived within a bad marriage. I won’t go into details here. In the end, I stole away like a thief in the night. I reclaimed my sanity and confidence (eventually) and whenever I see the Seven of Swords it reminds me that sometimes we just have to do what is necessary to save ourselves. Thus, the ‘thief’ may not point to what you think it does.

I wrote a little article for Lunarcafe about setting a study schedule with some other suggestons about how to learn tarot. Even if you are well along the tarot path, you may pick up a few tips.

Just wanted to say again that the in-depth reading you did for me about 2 months ago was fabulous! I needed some positive feedback about the topic in question and ” Mme Tarot” came through, to help me change my thinking!
